STEP1
Meeting with Course Production Staff
Meetings are held between the instructor and the center staff about the course to be produced. The staff consults the instructor on his/her educational policy, requests, and expectations. Then they together decide the course outline, such as course content, course period, video production, assignments, TAs, etc.

Instructor
- Provides the center staff with explanations about course content, learning goals, lecture style, and TAs.
Center Staff
- Explains the process of course production.
- Structures an outline of the course according to the instructor's requests.
- Provides instructional design advice and development support in accordance with instructor-specific requirements.
STEP2
Providing a Course Introduction Page
An introductory page for the course is published via KoALA to attract learners before the course starts. You can include an introduction video to highlight the attractive features of the course on the introduction page.

Instructor
- Submits course overview and the course syllabus.
- Produces the course introduction video if necessary.
Center Staff
- Creates the course introduction page and publishes the page on KoALA.
- Produces the course introduction video with the instructor if necessary.
STEP3
Producing Course Content
Lecture videos are recorded and edited, and assignments are created. All course materials will be implemented in the KoALA before the course start.

Instructor
- Prepare lecture slides and their scripts.
- Prepare course assignments (e.g., quizzes, homework, and a final exam).
Center Staff
- Shoots and edits the lecture videos.
- Adds subtitles to the lecture videos by using the narration scripts.
- Uploads the course content to the KoALA.
STEP4
Running the Course
Course content is released at the course start date. Discussion Forum is also available for the learners during the course run.

Instructor
- Responds to questions on the Discussion forum whenever it's necessary.
- Modifies course materials if necessary.
Center Staff
- Managing course content.
- Prepares and moderates Discussion forum threads.
- Provides technical supports.
STEP5
Ending the Course
KoALA automatically issues course certificates signed by the instructor for learners who had earned a passing score.

Instructor
Center Staff
- Issues the course certificates.
- Archives the course.
- Analyzes the course surveys and provides feedback to the instructor after the course end.
・Instructor-paced course: Course materials are provided weekly.
・Self-paced course: All materials are provided at the beginning of the course.
If possible, one or more teaching assistants (TAs) with disciplinary knowledge are hired for the production of course materials and course operation. Examples of TA roles: beta testing of the course; moderation of the Discussion forum, etc.
A short promotional video is produced to appeal to the features of the course. To attaract more learners, the video is released with the course introduction page on KoALA.
A wide-size display (BIG PAD) is available during the lecture shooting. Guideline for preparing course slides will be explained by the course staff before the shooting.
The instructor prepares a narration script for the lecture slides. The instructor can read the narration script during the video shooting (No need to memorize the scripts). These scripts will be used as subtitles of the lecture videos.
KoALA provides a variety of tools for creating assignments. All assignments, including multiple choices, fill-in-the-blanks, etc., are graded automatically.
Subtitles are often available for each lecture video.
During the course run, a Discussion forum is available for learners. Learners can post questions, opinions, and so on. Responses related to the content may be provided by the instructor or the TAs. It is recommended to hire one or more TAs with disciplinary knowledge.
The instructor can decide on a passing score for the certificate.
After the course end, all the course content is archived. Learners can access the course materials, including lecture videos and assignments, after the course end. Discussion forum will be read-only status, and no certificate will be issued after the course is archived.
After the course end, Office for Educational Assessment will create a course report using a course survey's result and provide a feedback session for the instructor with the course production team.
